Raku Vase with Circle Ladder Motif in Orange
This wheel-thrown clay vessel features archival coloration and was fired in the raku tradition; this piece has both glazed and naked (non-glazed) raku, as well as several layers of hand-polished terra sigillata. To achieve the distinct surface, the piece was brought to a high temperature quickly; once the glaze was melted, the piece was removed, forming cracks in the glaze. It was then smoke-fired, lending an organic nature to the work. Afterwards, the naked raku portions were cleaned and buffed to a beautiful sheen, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind vessel. Display only.
