The background of the "Holes in the Fences" series of painting is an abstraction of construction fences and their openings; the inspiration is from the scraps of "holes" leftover from other paintings by the artist. The foreground has a collaged a layer of monoprinted textures of construction fence fabric, with the large holes removed and collaged as an additional layer with additional paint outlining and inside the grid.
