James Aarons uses paper-thin layers of satin glaze to build up the surface of this set of 4 handmade ceramic paintings, calling to mind the ancient frescoes of Pompeii or Venice. Primitive forms, rocklike shapes and mysterious symbols inspire curiosity and wonder. Hang the set as a quartet as shown, or four in a row, either vertically or horizontally: however they're installed, this quartet makes a dramatic statement.
