Lunar Bowl

These handmade bowls are made one by one. A disk is cut out of a slab of porcelain clay then draped over a plaster mold. The mold adds support as the stipple texture is applied using a little tool. When texturing is done, the bowl is popped off, cleaned up, and set aside to dry. After the first firing (bisque), the piece is ready for glazing. The piece is fired once again, this time to 2300 degrees, making the clay vitreous. Black carbon spots randomly appear in the firing, making each piece different. The orange shino color ranges from orange to cream to black. Sometimes you get that all in one piece, and sometimes you get just one of the colors.

Food safe and perfect for a serving of ice cream or your favorite dessert. Sold individually.

1.5"H x 4.5"dia.
