This masterfully-crafted flattened vessel was created utilizing the complex techniques of cane and *murrini.* After crafting the cane and murrini and allowing them to cool, Patchen cuts the patterns to size, then spends days carefully composing hundreds of patterned elements into a mosaic. He then fuses them together to construct a glass bubble—all before blowing its final shape, which displays hues of aquamarine, lime, hyatcinth, white, and cerulean. Double-encased and flare-footed for stability.
